"Boomerang" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Nicole Scherzinger. It was written by Danny Mercer, Morgan Jackson Jackson Morgan, Anthony Preston, Sandy Wilhelm and Azengo, with production by Wilhelm and Preston. "Boomerang" is backed with synthesizers and a dance-pop beat. It debuted at number six on the UK Singles Chart, in addition to peaking at number nine in Ireland.
An accompanying music video directed by Nathalie Canguilhem was filmed in London, UK which portrays Scherzinger dancing and performing acrobatics throughout the video. Scherzinger performed "Boomerang" in a series of live appearances such as television shows ''Let's Dance for Comic Relief'' and ''The Jonathan Ross Show''. In 2014, Scherzinger signed a new deal with RCA Records, making "Boomerang" her final release with Interscope Records and ending a ten-year partnership.
== Background and release ==
Following the international release of her debut studio album ''Killer Love'' (2011), Scherzinger began working on a US version of the album. The US edition was to include an alternate track listing, made up of "a mixture of strong dance anthems, urban twists and uplifting songs". After numerous pushbacks, the release was later cancelled in favor of a new studio album. In July 2012, Scherzinger began recording new material with will.i.am and Anthony Preston for the album.〔 On November 29, 2012, Scherzinger took to her official Twitter page to unveil the title of a new single, "Boomerang". Several days later, a brief clip of Scherzinger on set of the video was shown during a video interlude as part of Scherzinger's judging duties on the ninth series of ''The X Factor'' (UK).〔 On February 19, 2014, it was announced that Scherzinger had signed a multi-record album deal with RCA Records and Sony Music, bringing to the end her ten-year partnership with Interscope Records.〔http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a552328/nicole-scherzinger-signs-new-record-deal-confirms-album-release.html〕 Consequently, "Boomerang" is Scherzinger's final single with Interscope and did not make the cut of the new album.
